Meet the Teacher

Dear LFCS Parents,

I’m so honored to be part of your child’s education and a part of the Literacy First Family. I’m extremely passionate about providing a positive, safe, and nurturing environment where your child feels safe to explore, discover, and learn. Our First Grade team has worked hard this summer to prepare a curriculum that is comprehensive, cohesive between classrooms, collaborative, supported by research, and fun. It’s going to be an incredible year filled with growth and excitement for learning.

Since I didn't start my career in teaching, I wanted to share a little about my background and why I became a teacher. I started my journey at a local community college where I majored in Biological Sciences and planned to be a high school science teacher. After a couple of years, I started a job in mortgage servicing and real estate, and little did I know it would turn into an 18-year career! I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from San Diego Christian College in 2011. My desire to be a teacher and make an impact in the lives of children never faded. I felt a calling I could no longer ignore and went back to school in 2017 to obtain my Multiple Teaching Credential from San Diego Christian College.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 21 years and our two girls (10 and 20 years old). My youngest attends LFCS and will be in 4th grade this year. I grew up in East County and attended Granite Hills High School, in El Cajon. My hobbies are decorating, crafting, event planning, camping, boating, exercising, and gardening.

I look forward to meeting you, learning about your child’s unique qualities, and partnering with you to make this year the most successful experience for your child.

Sincerely,

Nichcole Youngs
